You may have heard the sad news that Marilyn Thomas, teacher of the Majheeda Dance Group, died at the weekend.

The funeral is taking place at 2pm next Monday 22 June at Margam Crematorium.

If anyone would like to say a few words of tribute, I can add it to this page.

Marilyn was a wonderful, kind, caring friend who was always there for her 'girls' as she called us and for her friends in the dance community. She was a great dancer who was so full of enthusiasm for dance. Her joy of dance shone through in her dance performances. I will miss her as a very dear friend and as an excellent Dance Teacher.
She will always be in my heart and, the many hours she devoted to us will never be forgotten. Her smile, her dedication and her kindness will be with me always...

Marilyn was an impression to us teaching us that age, size meant little and that we just needed the desire to dance and enjoy. She was a shining light when on the dance floor and gave pleasure to all she touched in her life. She will be truly missed, my thoughts and prayers go out to her family at this time. She dealt with her illness with great courage and dignity and her fantastic tribal routines will be sorely missed.

Ah, Marilyn! Although I only met her a few times, and we corresponded a bit in the past year, she made such an impression and I'm so sorry that she's gone. She danced both tribal style and cabaret with verve and energy, a beautiful spirit. She'll be remembered for her inspiration and for her positive approach to dance and life.
