Cardigan Belly Dance Fiesta - 13/14 August 2011

Cardigan Belly Dance Fiesta takes place at the Small World Theatre, Bath House Road, Cardigan, SA43 1JY on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August 2011.

It starts with a hafla and show on Saturday night featuring students, teachers and professional belly dancers.

There'll be a buffet dinner and bar, bazaar, dancing and drumming - come and watch, dance, shop, relax, enjoy!

It runs from 7 till 10.30pm, tickets £5 available on the door or in advance online from www.whatevertheweatherwales.co.uk

On Sunday there'll be a series of workshops specifically for beginners and improvers. £12 each, or £25 for an 'all-day ticket' for two workshops with a light lunch.

Morning Workshops:
11am-1pm with Melanie: Belly Dance Basics. A 'crash course' looking at the building blocks of belly dance, to get you started on or revise the basic movements.

Or 11am-1pm with Rose: Learn a dance in 2 hours. Rose specialises in making Belly Dance accessible and fun for absolute beginners and those over 50. 'Tantalise' is an easy-to-perform dance using very basic steps that is fun to do, makes you look and feel great and can be learnt in 2 hours!

Afternoon workshops:
2 till 4pm with Lyza: Tribal Tune-Up. A simple introduction to the very popular Tribal school of belly dance. Focuses on moves for the upper body and arms - find muscles you never knew you had!

Or 2 till 4pm with Guinevere: Belly Treasure - Rhythm Lady. Guinevere has just published the Belly Dancer's Treasure Pack, an innovative and fun way to improve your dance, whatever level you are. For this workshop, she teams up with drummer Shelley to work with 3 core Egyptian rhythms. Bring any musical instruments you enjoy playing, especially percussion.

If you have ever wanted to try Belly Dance, this is a perfect selection. I had been considering to do it for awhile and after some looking, settled on this one two months ago or so. Since then I have been learning and having fun.

She is really good at showing you how to do things with examples that are easy to understand. The presentation works well as she shows things from all sides when describing what to do, such as how much movement is needed. Very warm personality that is realy enjoying showing me how to Belly Dance.
