Arabic Drum Classes for Women in Cardiff

Hannah Corr is starting a monthly Arabic drum class for women in Cardiff.

The classes will cover the different types of drums (dumbek/tabla, frame drum, tambourine), basic techniques, how to play Arabic & North African rhythms, 'colouring' and expanding on a basic rhythm, as well as looking into the history of women drumming and the therapeutic & mind-body-spirit benefits. You will also have a play with other rhythms from Africa, Hawaii and the Americas.

Please bring a tabla, frame drum or tambourine - don't worry if you don't have one, there will be a few spare on the day. Djembes are fine.

Classes will be held on the first Saturday of every month in Cathays Methodist Hall on Crwys Road, Roath, from 10am till 12pm - £10 a class:

Saturday 6th September
Saturday 4th October
Saturday 1st November
Saturday 6th December

See www.halfouinedance.co.uk for details of all Hannah's classes and workshops.

I attended the October drum class and was amazed how much fun and inspiring it was. I am definitely into Arabic drumming and can't wait for the next class.
