Bellydance Superstars in Cardiff


Don't forget the Bellydance Superstars present their RAQS Carnivale show at St David's Hall, Cardiff, this Wednesday 31 May at 8pm.

There's still time to take advantage of the two-for-one ticket offer - call the Box Office on 029 2087 8444 before 6pm on Tuesday and quote "Dance Offer" to get two tickets for £15.

I'm also hosting an after-show party at a nearby secret location - ask your tutors for details!

Steph's Hafla - tickets on sale


Steph is now selling tickets for her hafla on Friday 30 June at The Electricity Club, Pontcanna, Cardiff.

Arabic drummer John Sleiman is once again the star attraction, plus performances, freestyle dancing, buffet, bazaar and bar.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting Stephanie on 029 2023 1450 or emailing info @ stephaniebellydance.co.uk.

Adult tickets are £8, under 16s half price. Groups buying 10 tickets or more in advance get one free.

Dancers who'd like to perform should contact Steph to confirm their dance slots and how they'd like to be described on the programme.

There are also some performance slots still available if anyone's interested.

Egyptian Nights in Bristol


Students of Anna Chandler are holding a belly dance show and party in Bristol on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 July.

They're promising an Arabian kaleidoscope of Middle Eastern dance styles.

The shows take place at the Hanham Folk Centre, High Street, Hanham, Bristol BS15 3EJ - starting 8pm, tickets £8.50.

Shafeek workshop - now in Bristol


Shafeek Abrahim's workshop will now be taking place in Bristol on Saturday 3 June, rather than Newport as previously advertised.

A former member of Egypt's famous Reda troupe, Shafeek will be teaching spins, turns, Oriental moves & technique with combinations and a short piece of choreography.

It takes place at Sea Mills Community Centre, Sunny Hill, Sea Mills, Bristol - 2 til 5pm, price £20 - suitable for intermediate or advanced dancers.

Bellydance Taster Sessions in Undy

Bellydance for Beginners - Cardiff


Sue Lloyd has launched a new weekly bellydance class for beginners in Cardiff.

It's every Thursday at the new dance studio at Maindy Swimming Pool on North Road.

The class takes place 5.30 till 6.30pm, pay £4 at reception.

Tunisian Dance Workshop with Helene


Newport-based Jawahir invite you to try a different style of dance with one of the most gifted teachers.

The workshop takes place on Sunday 18 June, 1.30 to 3.30pm at The Beaufort Centre, Beaufort Road, St Julians, Newport - cost £15 per person.

Born in Cambridge, England, Helene is now resident of Northern California and lives in the Santa Cruz mountains.

She's been studying and teaching Middle Eastern and North African dance since 1984, and recently produced the Dance for Peace show with Sisters of the Desert Skies dance company of which she is director.

Morocco comes to mid Wales


New York bellydancer and tutor Morocco is coming to mid Wales to hold a workshop in November.

The session is likely to focus on a fun Oryantal Karsilama routine to "Dere Karsilama".

It takes place on Tuesday 7th November from 6 till 8.30pm, price £21 in advance, £25 on the door.

Venue to be confirmed but will be somewhere between Brecon and Hay on Wye.

Yvette Cowles Workshops - new date


Yvette returns to Newport for a couple of workshops on Sunday 30 July - note the new date, two weeks later than originally planned.


In the first session (11.30am to 1.30pm) you'll learn a choreography to Dalinda's Salma Ya Salma - nice and catchy, suitable for beginners upwards.

The second session (2.30 to 4.30pm) is Bollywood Revisited - if you enjoyed the one last November, this will be a bit more challenging.

The workshops take place at Bannatyne's Health Club and cost £15 each, or £25 for both.

Khaled comes to Aberdare


Khaled Mahmoud hosts Egyptian Moonlight, an evening of oriental dance at the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, on Saturday 1 July.
