Nancy Warren workshops and hafla


Nancy Warren is hosting two workshops at the Powys Dance Centre, Llandrindod Wells, on Saturday 9 October 2010.

From 10am till 1pm there'll be Tai Chi Sword Technique for Dancers - learn single edge sword technique to enhance fluidity and give meaning to your sword dance. This workshop does not involve balancing the sword.

Then from 2 till 5pm it's an Armenian Women's Dance Workshop - learn a choreography based on a traditional women's dance, characterised by delicate hands, expressive arms and graceful gliding steps.

She'll also be holding a Halloween Hafla at the Clifford Community Centre, Clifford, near Hay-on-Wye on Saturday 30 October 2010.

The event runs from 7pm till midnight with tickets at £5 - please bring food and drink to share.

Alanya's Midwinter Hafla - December 4


Alanya is holding a Midwinter Hafla at Bodenham Parish Hall, Hereford HR1 3LB on Saturday 4 December.

There'll be solo and group performances, opportunities for everyone to dance and a souk - please bring and share supper.

It runs from 7 till 11pm and tickets cost £5.

Bellydance class in Llanidloes


A Taste of Belly Dancing is a new weekly class beginning this autumn in Llanidloes, Powys.

It takes place every Monday from 7 till 8pm starting 4th October at the United Services Club.

The class will serve as an introduction to the ancient and exotic art of belly dancing.

Students will learn the basic moves and put them together into a simple dance.

Everyone is welcome - if you can already belly dance, come along and practice your moves.

The cost is £3.50 per class - it'll run for six weeks at first and continue if there's sufficient interest.

Bellydance on Radio Cardiff Tuesdays 11pm


Just to let you know that A Night in Tunisia - my Middle Eastern beats and bellydance show - moves to Tuesday nights 11pm till midnight on Radio Cardiff.

It's moving because my Jazz Connection show is now going out Thursday nights at 8pm.

Each show will offer a mix of our favourite Middle Eastern, bellydance, Balkan, klezmer, desert blues and more.

Hopefully A Night in Tunisia will be more settled in this new timeslot than it was previously.

Safeena at Fantasia


Safeena is pleased to announce that she will be teaching at Fantasia in London again this December and her performance group Mirage will be travelling to London with her to perform in the show.

If anyone wishes to join Mirage and have the chance to perform nationally, learn exciting new choreographies, improve their knowledge of Egyptian style and fusion arabic dance, and be part of a friendly and committed dance troupe, the Mirage classes are held in Morganstown Village Hall on Tuesday evenings, 5.30 til 7.30, but please contact Safeena before turning up.

Kalbeliya Gypsy workshops cancelled


The Kalbeliya Gypsy workshops in Cardiff with Senu Sapera on 18 and 19 September 2010 are off as Senu's UK visa has been cancelled.

Due to public demand, Fiora and Aliah are stepping in to hold a series of replacement workshops at Rubicon Dance, Nora Street, Cardiff CF24 1ND.

Saturday 1 till 2.30pm - History and Evolution of Bellydance

Saturday 2.30 till 4pm - Greek Chiftetelli workshop with Fiora

Sunday 12 till 1.30pm - Develop your Drum Solo with Aliah
