Season's Greetings from Andy

Just a message to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks to everyone who invited me to DJ or drum at their haflas, and to those who supported A Night in Tunisia at Cafe Jazz in Cardiff - the next one is March 20.

Thanks also for the positive response to my one-off Arabian Nights show on Radio Cardiff 98.7 FM.

If you send an email to info @ radiocardiff.org telling them how much you enjoyed it, they might let me do some more.

See you next year!

A Night in Tunisia - thanks!

Just to say thanks to everyone who braved the stormy weather to help create our own little oasis of pleasure at Cafe Jazz in Cardiff last night.

Great performances from Siluria, Steph, Wendy, Dominique and Hannah, plus drummer Tim and violinist Emese who supported my madcap dream of performing some live Middle Eastern music. Big thanks also to Divarka (?) and Hannah for the added percussion - and to the audience who kindly appreciated us!

Look out for the next Night in Tunisia on Thursday 20 March - I'm pleased to confirm that Chas Whitaker and Maren Lueg will be coming over from deepest Somerset to lead the live music.

Until then, there are plenty of haflas in the run up to Christmas and beyond - see www.arabesq.co.uk/events.shtml for details.

Arabian Nights - listen online

Good to hear some of you were able to tune in to my first ever Arabian Nights show on Radio Cardiff 98.7 FM.

Reception is patchy even within Cardiff itself, so I've put the show online for all to hear over the next seven days.

Go to www.arabesq.co.uk/andy.shtml and click on the link below my photo.

It's a collection of familiar tunes by Amr Diab, Latifah, Natacha Atlas, Rachid Taha, Emad Sayyah and others - hopefully a good introduction for listeners who haven't heard much Middle Eastern music. Warning - may contain cheesy DJ-speak!

If Radio Cardiff decide to give the show a regular slot I'll let you know - in the meantime why not try my Jazz Connection show next Monday night at 8pm.
